21:00 Exiles AUS

He sings and squeaks, rasps and crows; he creaks, grrrs, whispers, brrrs, growls and buzzes, loudly or just as well pianopianissimo.

Sometimes it sounds like a church, sometimes like a bar or circus but more often like a workshop -- and so it's certainly appropriate to refer to this performer as an artist, a juggler, an equilibrist, a clown, a grotesque dancer -- but always as a musician. (Manfred Sack, Die Zeit)

The Australian violinist Jon Rose has musical roots that extend in all directions. He also acts as a polarizer (last year at the Music Unlimited Festival in Wels, his project Techno mit Störungen -- Techno with Disturbances -- prompted an anonymous bomb threat!). His credits include work with Butch Morris, Shelley Hirsch, Derek Bailey, George Lewis, Toshinori Kondo, Alvin Curran and Eugene Chadborne. In 1989, he initiated the Relative Violin Festival in Berlin with over 50 violinists, published a book with the title "The Pink Violin" and directed "Das Rosenberg Museum", a surrealistic satire commissioned by the ZDF. Rose is a member of the Noise Impro-Rock Band Slawterhaus and directs several of his own ensembles. With his new trio Exiles, he's coming for the first time to shake up the P&B!
