Unfortunately Christian Bachner had to cancel his Archie Shepp Songbook Session because the director of the local music school gave him the ultimatum: "Either you teach here or you'll remain only a musician". Fortunately, tonight he will have another chance to display his enormous capability and maturity. (Here we may be witnessing the development of a successor to Joe Lovanos). Christian's brother Robert also deserves special mention. Since Christian Radovan has retired into the pop scene and Christian Muthspiel has announced his intention to pack up his trombone for good as of December 97, only one will remain from the current trombone triumvirate (Bachner), who will have to play as well as the two others. God & Frank Roselino, watch over him. We're going to have to be counting on him for a long time! Have Fun! MR
