21:00 Session The Jimi Hendrix Songbook by Frank Schwinn

Jimi Hendrix left a lasting impact on the rock/pop music of the 60s and he himself (unintentionally) became sort of musical mascot for the Anti-Vietnam movement. Moreover, his influence was also felt in jazz and recorded documentation still exists of his sessions with John McLaughlin, among others. Gil Evans concluded a contract with Hendrix but died before their co-work could begin. (In 1976, Evans released Gil Evans Plays the Music of Jimi Hendrix, which featured Rio Kawasaki on guitar.) Even Miles Davis expressed interest in launching a joint project with Hendrix. Tonight Hendrix's music forms the basis of this Session, which will be competently led by Frank Schwinn. As always, the Charts will be on hand in the P&B garderobe. Woke Up This Morning and Found Myself Dead!
