21:00 Enrico Rava plays Italian Composers I/F

In these times, with Pavarotti out looking for Pop friends, Sting singing arias, city neurotics playing their clarinets out on the open streets and Gideon Kremer applying his fiddle to everything from the tango to Schostakowisch, it would do you well to remember Miles Davis and his Rodrigo-Porgy&Bess attempts, so as not to adopt the fatal opinion that every change of style and attempted adaptation must necessarily lead to the hero's cemetery for musical mistakes. Once you've remembered Miles -- and added to this the memory that if jazz hadn't allowed for M.D.'s adaptations of musical melodies, it would have been deprived of his standard-songs repertory -- then you probably will look forward to this encounter between Enrico Ravo-Puccini-&other Italian songwriters with an open mind, if not with downright excitement. Those who have enjoyed Rava's musical expositions, can then go deepen their crossover experiences by listening to Liszt's piano adaptations of the Beethoven symphonies!
