Now that Wolfgang Puschnig is taking off to join the1997 World Tour by Sting and Klaus Dickbauer is withdrawing to complete his "life's work" (on a farmstead in Upper Austria), finally there will be enough playing space for Gerald Preinfalk, who according to the Downbeat horoscope can look forward to a brilliant year (recording contract with ECM, plus a wealthy wife and three children). Since Dudli and Langer already have such boon periods behind them, their playing will probably have mellowed somewhat. And then there's Frank Schwinn, who we always like anyway. Hip! MR
