What's left to write about a musician who plays ca. 2x/year at P&B and about whom you've already written at least seven times? Maybe that here we have to do with a truly exceptional person, who also knows how to handle a soprano in a stylistically-instructive way. That said musician has already played with such superstars as Charles Lloyd, Elvin Jones, Lennie Tristano, Miles Davis etc, etc.? That he has led such exemplary ensembles as Lookout Farm and Quest? Or that he's also an excellent educator who writes even more excellent books? All of these facts can already be found in lexicon entries about Liebman. What you can only read here, however, is his commentary about this band and their current CD: "World music, free jazz, new age, bebop, hymns, electronics, modalism, fusion styles, dance rhythms. Combine these idioms with New York, Vienna and Paris and one sees no distinction anymore." "The music here is truly free - that is, free of restrictions. The three of us took our maiden voyage on this recording and it was magical. It was a shared trip, one of the best I've ever done. There is a feeling of 'being there' in this music and it truly reflects our attempt to be in the present as much as humanly possible. Sometimes first visits are the best. We'll play again and see."
