Portrait Bob Berg

Berg has been compared to the Prophets, but who said what of which? I've forgotten now but it doesn't really matter, as long as Berg comes. What would we do a prophet anyway?. Or maybe if Berg comes, we will be getting a prophet, because the two are one and the same. Who can say, because you shouldn't forget that in Brookling, where Berg comes from, no Berg's don't exist there - and possibly that is the reason why Berg actually is the prophet and Brookling has no Bergs. Proof that he might be a prophet: He has continually proselytized for a new era in sax playing, based on the eternal wisdom of Coltrane and Rollins, ever since he worked with Miles Davis and Bill Evans. For Berg, (which in German means mountain), the term "massive" would fit best. He has a massive sound, with clear contours and brilliantly polished riffs, which would pose an extreme technical challenge for any player, even the best. What Berg(s) and prophets have in common: You can only experience beauty and strength if you open yourselves to them. But once this happens, it can be a revelationŠ WL
