In the first halves of their lives, Beni S. and Mikulas S. received fantastic classical training and thereby mastered the finest playing technique, namely well-rounded instrumental handiwork combined with exciting interpretative skills and sensibility. Yet both musicians entered the second halves of their music lives fairly early, and there endeavored to forget their formal views and/or replace them with their flip-sides. For anyone, a difficult undertaking leading to the pains and pleasures of the crazy process of discovery... During this process, both musicians became established as much-demanded members of the improvisational circle; each began a confrontation with jazz traditions and set off along new and unconventional routes in the classical milieu. Both are trail blazers and they promise excitement. All those with weak auditory nerves are well advised to check out the classical music program at the Musikverein for this evening instead. RD
