21:00 Pentadom
"All progress disintegrates, divides, dissolves, disperses compact solidarities, dismembers old inherited relationships, demolishes, detonates. Culture is rich in problems. The more puzzles an era discovers, the more illuminated it seems." (E. Fridell)"All progress disintegrates, divides, dissolves, disperses compact solidarities, dismembers old inherited relationships, demolishes, detonates. Culture is rich in problems. Any producer who agrees to pay through the nose to engage Pentadom, is guaranteed an evening rich in problems. Aschböck and Hinteregger dismember old inherited musical solidarities, Schrenk demolishes compact sound relationships, Riegler destroys all hope of artistic/cultivated groove, Lang dispatches in one fell swoop all pulsating Austrianisms and, with his trumpet and a lot of air, Fian dissipates musicosociological conventions. However - as Egon already knew from hearing the old Pentadom - culture is rich in problems. P&B Club Management can assure you, however, that all the members of this band carry on happily-illuminated through lives full of pleasurable contacts (that's also progress!). Tonight, come prepared for a discovery trip full of musical (& other) puzzles. A "must" for all music fans of this era, in which richness often also poses problems for culture! RD
24:00 PianoNightLine Geri Schuller Trio
Geri Schuller (not to be confused with Gerd Schuller, the Styrian pianist who provides the TV world with dry synth statements in the Commissioner Rex series), the lanky creator of carefully conceived compositions and grooving patterns (i.e. with the Rounder Girls), could just as well have made it as a lead singer (i.e. with Koolinger). This trio is an inadequate showcase for Schuller's vocal and acting capabilities but makes up for this in that it excels in its ensemble work, spiked with surprises. MR
