21:00 Özay feat. Kirk Lightsey & Chico Freeman USA

Özay developed her musical potential in the manner of Billy Holiday. Whoever has seen the film "40 qm Deutschland" (40 m2 of Germany), in which Istanbul-born Özay plays the lead, should understand already that a Turkish girl who has been tossed back and forth between two worlds is predisposed for singing the Blues. In a "late-bloomer" phase, Özay went alone to NY in 1995 (every European female jazz musician knows what that means!) after having lived in Berlin for 20 years. In NY, she quickly managed to work her way into the Scene, as evidenced by her feature role with this band. At the head of it all, Kirk Lightsey, the most wonderful of all "true" jazz pianists - who played for many years in the ensemble of Dexter Gordon. MR
