21:00 Jimmy Johnson Group USA
Today there are only a few artists around to guarantee survival of the Blues as a viable genre. Jimmy Johnson belongs to the extremely small group of musicians whose works still give evidence to the (further) development of the Blues. (Downbeat)
Tonight this Jazz & Music Club is changing itself into a subterranean locale for the Blues. Jimmy Johnson, who in 1950 left the Southern states because he "didn't want to become a farmer", only to end up working as a welder in a Chicago factory instead, eventually left the blue collar world to devote himself to the Blues and to earning his living as a guitarist. Recognition and success eluded him until the Verve label gave him the chance to win the acclaim, as singer and guitarist, that he deserves.I'm a Jockey is the outcome - we look forward with impatience to see what this entails!!
