Gary Lucas already made waves in the music world through his work with Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band. In addition, the independent-minded guitarist has won New Music credits with the major label CBS and has produced albums by Peter Gordon and Tim Berne. Yet, aside from his accomplishments with own band Gods and Monsters and his co-work with Lou Reed and Iggy Pop, Lucas' solo efforts actually merit the most consideration. Equipped with a Stratocaster, Gibson and various other guitars, as well as any number of special effects, Lucas revives the concept of solo performance as virtuoso One Man Band.
