Reviving the tradition of Gil Evans and his Monday Night Orchestra, Christoph Cech and Nouvelle Cuisine will line up onstage tonight (and possibly for the next five Mondays) as the Porgy & Bess Stage Band, also providing new opportunities for musicians in the field of modern to mainstream who are interested in composing for such a big band ensemble.
After the Upper Austrians, another large formation will be overflowing into the audience on the expanded P&B stage, making our sound technicians sweat and shake their heads in dismay, and sympathetic listeners tap their feet with pleasure. Experimental, orchestral, opulent!!
PS: The dates for the next Monday Nights In Porgy & Bess: 12.2, 26.2, 18.3, 1.4 and 15.4. CH
