On the assumption that people, in principle, are capable of changing their established opinions when faced with evidence to the contrary, then those who think that Oliver Kent only feels at home with the traditions of musicians who are at least two generations older than he is are going to have to change their minds... at least if they've witnessed his recent co-work with Nguyen Le. Fortunately, Kent's repeat trips backwards through jazz history have not dampened his appreciation for new sounds. During this session, he can feel free to dig deep into the trove of standards and embellish his findings with the richness he has derived from recent experience. CH
