Duke Ellington -- a man of the world and no doubt the only jazz musician to have had half the world lying at his feet -- left behind a massive legacy of over 1000 suites and songs. This first of several Songbook Sessions is being entrusted to Barbara Pflüger, who has already warmed many lonely hearts in this city with her immaculate and well-dosed, though unspectacular, interpretations of an impressive range of standards.
