21:00 A Focus On Alexander Machacek

McHacek is the band led by a guitarist from Vienna who, not content with just having studied in Berkley, is setting out now to make himself an international name. Which is why he has changed his own name so that it sounds more English (as in the case of our "Porgy & Bess"). McHacek follows hot on the trail of John McLaughlin, Pat McTheny, John McCrombie, Wes McGomery and Jimi McDrix -- a collection of long-forgotten greats, nearly all of whom have earned their own Berkley-guitar diplomas along the way. At his side: Walter Fischbacher -- another musician who is still busy establishing his own name and who already has more than just a NY telephone number in hand to document his international status; Tibor Kövesdi, whose origins cannot be denied; and Harry Ganglberger, who drums unlike most Viennese but still prefers to keep his local address. Playing mostly their own compositions -- with such promising names as "Chainsaw Massacre" and "Torn Ligaments" -- they target the more advanced or enlightened jazz audience. For Adults Only! CH
