21:00 Unstolen Moments feat Christian Utz & Co

This première will feature works solely by the young ATStrian composer, Christian Utz. Among these:

Mosaic. Music in five phases for two samplers and computer (1996).
"'Mosaic' takes the listener on a 30-minute jaunt between the realms of instrumental sound (Ensonic-Sampler) and synthetic sound (Kurzweil-Sampler), with the addition of other computer-generated sound from both samplers. These three sound spheres are pulled together via digital signal processing and are simultaneously blended and contrasted during the partly-improvised performance, in a manner not unlike morphing. The split-leveling of sound, which begins almost imperceptibly at the beginning of the piece, builds to provide the tension, or theme of the music. In the process, the interaction of the two performers and the computer creates a continuously changing structure that oscillates between the two bodies of sound. The five patterns, each having its own distinctive density and energy dynamic, give rise to 'Mosaic's' five phases." (Christian Utz)
