Musical Bodies – eine monatliche Serie für Tanz & Musik

Die Tänzerin und Choreografin Naïma Mazic wählt eine:n Wiener Tänzer:in und eine:n Wiener Jazzmusiker:in aus, die den Auftrag erhalten, gemeinsam ein Duett von mindestens 30 und maximal 45 Minuten zu kreieren.

Die Aufgabe besteht darin, unbekannte Wege in der Kommunikation von Tanz und Musik zu beschreiten, einen nicht-hierarchischen Dialog zwischen dem Seh- und Hörbaren herzustellen und mindestens einmal einen gemeinsamen Puls zu teilen. Es steht den Künstler:innen frei, ob und wie viel sie proben und recherchieren möchten oder ob sie sich erst am Tag der Performance begegnen. Nach der Performance findet ein 7-minütiges Publikumsgespräch statt, in dem die Zuschauer:innen teilen können, was sie wahrgenommen haben.

Christina Zoulianiti is a Greek dancer, choreographer and psychologist based in Vienna. Her movement is rooted in street styles, especially hip-hop, and is shaped through a continuous dialogue with contemporary dance practices, exploring the in-between space, where different textures, and qualities meet.
Within her artistic practice, and particularly in her choreographic work, she is interested in exploring the psychological and emotional processes that shape human behaviour and identity and in investigating how these internal conditions are embodied. Her background also includes an M.A. in "Theatre and Society: Theory, Staging and Didactics" from the University of the Peloponnese, as well as training alongside internationally acclaimed choreographers and dance pedagogues through the dance programmes "Bluebox" and "ReDance".
She recently created her group performance piece “Echoes”, which has been presented in Greece, and is currently developing her new solo work “Before the Dive” in Vienna in co-production with Tanz*Hotel.

Samuel Mastorakis is a French vibraphonist, improviser, and educator based in Montpellier, recognized for his versatility and commitment to the contemporary jazz scene. His career reflects a constant pursuit of innovation.
Currently, Samuel Mastorakis is involved in several musical projects. He is a co-leader of ZYLIA, an electro-acoustic chamber music ensemble, and FORGES, a contemporary improvised music group . In 2024, he joined the European sextet SERPENTINE, led by German pianist Felix Hauptmann. Since then, he has expanded his collaborations within the German improvised music scene. His music is characterized by an innovative fusion of styles, combining improvisation, contemporary music and electronics. He is widely recognized for his creativity, technical mastery, and his ability to push musical boundaries.

Dancer, Choreographer and curator Naïma Mazic founded the association more2rhythm and the n ï m company in 2016, with its first project and performance in Havana, Cuba. 2024 she was artistic director of LAKE Studios Berlin (Dance Research & Residency Center) and its SUBMERGE festival. She has been resident choreographer at K3Tanzplan Hamburg/Kampnagel, has an MA in Performance Studies fromNYU TISCH and studied at P.A.R.T.S., the Iceland Academy of Arts and at MUK /Conservatory Vienna. She was part of theHip Hop Continuum by Rennie Harris at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival USA, Urban Dance Project in Kolkata, India and ImPulsTanz danceWEB15 & 22. Her works have been shown at Judson Church NYC, Vienna Art Week, brut Vienna, DOCK 11 Berlin, Tanzfaktur Cologne, LABFrankfurt, PODIUM Esslingen Festival and Leipziger Jazztage at Schauspielhaus Leipzig. Naïma concentrates on the communication between dancers of different backgrounds and (jazz) musicians. Her work is based on polyrhythms & musical structures, replenished by sensuality and femininity. Naïma directs music videos, works as a dramaturg and curator and is regularly teaching her workshop OF(F) RHYTHM and leading the HEAR & NOW Play Session for dancers and (jazz) musicians in different cities and places such as TQW, MUK and ImPulsTanz. In 2024 Naïma was performer and co-composer for Naama Tsabar at the National Gallery Berlin - Hamburger Bahnhof during the Berlin Art Week. In 2026 she founded and curates the monthly Series MUSICAL BODIES at Jazz & Music club Porgy & Bess.
