Wer das Konzert von Michel Doneda im Duo mit dem Perkussionisten Le Quan Ninh auf der sogenannten Hesser Gstettn im Rahmen der Nickelsdorfer Konfrontationen 2016 erlebt hat, weiss ob der improvisatorischen Qualitäten des französischen Sopransaxophonisten. In der Strengen Kammer gastiert er mit dem norwegischen Bassisten Adrian Fiskum Myhr – ein Konzert, das allen Soundexperimentalisten wärmestens empfohlen werden kann. Beide Musiker werden dem Namen des Auftrittsortes mehr als gerecht werden. CH

Michel Doneda wurde 1954 in Frankreich geboren und ist autodidaktischer Musiker. Um 1980 gründete er in Frankreich zusammen mit Musikern, Tänzern und Schauspielern IREA (Institute for research and exchange between arts of improvisation). Er spielte und arbeitete bereits intensiv mit Musikern wie Fred Van Hove, Phil Wachsmann, John Zorn, Eliott Sharp, Elvin Jones, Lê Quan Ninh, Barre Phillips, Paul Rogers, Tetsu Saitoh u.v.a. Doneda ist in der internationalen Musikszene sehr engagiert und aktiv: Er tourt in Afrika, Japan, Asien, den USA, Kanada, Süd Amerika und Russland und hat bereits mehr als 50 Cds veröffentlicht.

Adrian Myhr is a bassplayer (double bass and electric bass) from Trondheim, currently living in Oslo. He plays in bands like Oker, Bansal Band, Dr. Kay & his Interstellar Tone Scientists, ComboNations, Javid Afsari Rad Ensemble, Torg, DaMaNa & Myhr/Doneda. I also do concerts with my solo project. As a musician he is interested in exploring the sound possibilities of my instruments and he is constantly working on making my sound vocabulary larger. He plays different genres and feel comfortable playing everything from free-improvised music to jazz, world music and pop. He has a Master degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Doneda/Myhr plays acoustic free improvised music and have played together for many years. They have earlier toured Norway, Denmark, France and Switzerland as a duo and as a trio with the Norwegian drummer Tore Sandbakken, and also as a quartet with the video artist Xavier Querel. The winter 2016 they did their first concerts as a duo. In this duo they are exploring the sound possibilities of their instruments. The soprano saxophone and the double bass has a wide range to play with, from bright shrill tones to dark drones. They use alternative playing techniques and preparations to get music rich on textures. Michel Doneda is from France and has been active on the european improvisation scene in many decades. He has earlier worked with musicians like Le Quan Ninh, John Zorn, Fred Frith, etc. Adrian Fiskum Myhr is a bassist from Oslo and active in bands like Oker, Simiskina and Bansal Band.
