Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan composer and singer with a long professional career in music and art. In a career spanning more than 30 years, he has recorded fourteen studio albums and given concerts all over the world.

After training as a doctor, in 1995 he decided to leave his life in Uruguay and move to Spain to devote himself entirely to music and composition. Throughout his career, his work has been recognized with an Oscar for "Al otro lado del río" (2005) - Best Original Song, the first non-English language song to receive this award -, thirteen Latin Grammys (2014, 2018, 2021 and 2022), a Goya Award (2011) and a Biznaga de Plata, among others.

In 2017, he took part in the first edition of TED in Spanish and recorded a talk entitled "Poesía, música e identidad", which was one of the most acclaimed on the platform. In 2018 he recorded NPR's legendary Tiny Desk Concerts and in 2023 he was part of the TV show Austin City Limits.

After almost five years away from recording, Drexler presented his new album "Tinta y Tiempo" in April 2022. A brilliant, generous, rich work destined to become an essential part of his repertoire, featuring collaborations with Rubén Blades, C. Tangana, Noga Erez and Martín Buscaglia. Drexler was recently honored with seven Latin Grammy awards, five of them for this new album. To coincide with the release of this album, he embarked on an extensive international tour of Latin America and Europe.

Drexler's career is extensive and exuberant, in his tireless spirit of searching and experimenting with music and lyrics. His texts, inspired by various fields of knowledge, are multi-layered and delve into the world of poetry and science alike. His passion for prose and verse, tenths and words, as well as his personal ability to express people's feelings, contribute to his iron will to build bridges between different cultures and to seek a connection and empathy between all societies in the modern world.
