“The guys from the Anne Clark Band have recorded an album and are going on tour with it!”

The debut album by the Jeff Aug / Murat Parlak Quintet, recorded at the legendary Stockfisch Studio in Northeim, will be released on February 5, 2027, on the audiophile label Stockfisch Records.

“It took 15 years to make this happen, but if it were easy, everyone would probably be doing it,” says Jeff about the upcoming album. The idea originated in May 2012, after Jeff returned from a tour with Allan Holdsworth and met with Murat at his studio to record his eighth acoustic instrumental album. “I had plenty of new material for the solo album, but then there was additional material that Murat and I both agreed would be better recorded with an ensemble,” Jeff explains. This material formed the core of this debut album.

“Murat and I had always wanted to record an album together, but the biggest challenge was finding a musical and, at the same time, authentic common ground. It had to be music with which we had a deep connection—music we could both identify with on many levels.”

The Jeff Aug / Murat Parlak Quintet performs acoustic instrumental compositions with a lineup consisting of a steel-string guitar played in fingerstyle, piano, violin, cello, drums, and percussion. Inspired by the acoustic instrumentalists featured on Windham Hill Records releases from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as by rock-fusion artists of the same era, the Jeff Aug / Murat Parlak Quintet creates a musical style that is unlike any other in the world, yet is equally accessible and captivating to fans of jazz, world music, and rock alike.
