The GHO Orchestra is thrilled to be presenting its first concert in Porgy & Bess. This exceptional orchestra, made up of some of Austria’s top established jazz musicians and young lions, is dedicated to performing the music of composer Gerd Hermann Ortler. The music of GHO is an eclectic mix of improvisation and composition at the highest level. GHO combines elements of modern classical music, including minimalism and 12 tone techniques, with a beauty and lyricism seldom heard before in music for large jazz ensemble. These elements are complimented by his incredible sense of drama, which manifests itself in another aspect of his music when he unleashes the full power and fury of his 23 piece orchestra. Come out to be an eyewitness to the birth of an excellent new orchestra and to the premiere performance of one of the most interesting, talented and creative new composers on the European scene: Gerd Hermann Ortler.
