Sarah Jane Morris (GB)

Sarah Jane Morris: vocals
Dominic Miller: guitar

Highly acclaimed jazz singer Sarah Jane Morris and exceptional guitarist Dominic Miller team up to perform at Porgy & Bess on 16th January 2009. Famed for her association with the Communards in the mid-80’s and infamous for a banned rendition of the classic Me and Mrs Jones, Sarah Jane has always attracted as much attention for her politics as for her soul-driven, seismic voice. Sarah Jane has just finished recording her brand new album Where It Hurts and will be previewing some of the new co-written material with Dominic on their tour. They recently performed at Ronnie Scotts in London and the gig was recorded and broadcast by RAI (Radio Italy). This album will be released early 2009. In the last year, they have performed in the UK, Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, Malta, Switzerland and Canada. Dominic Miller performs on both electric and acoustic and has made his name as sideman to Sting and co-writer to many hits over the past 15 years. As a soloist he has recorded many acclaimed albums. In May 2008, Dominic and Sarah Jane played at the Hay Literary Festival and performed on Mariella Frostrup’s programme for Sky Arts (this can be seen on the website). They have subsequently been asked to perform in Columbia at the Hay South American Festival in January 2009. This will be Sarah Jane’s first trip to South America, but Dominic was born there so it will be a very special trip for him. Sarah Jane has just released „Migratory Birds” in collaboration with Marc Ribot (Tom Waits). The 12 track CD is a collection of songs from Bob Dylan, Rickie Lee Jones, Janis Ian, Damien Rice, Dolly Parton and Velvet Underground. The title track being the only original song co-written by Sarah Jane with Kevin Armstrong. (Pressetext)
