„Noites brasilieras“ nennt sich ein Schwerpunkt, der hauptsächlich im Oktober stattfindet und mit einem Konzert des phantastischen Egberto Gismonti am 19. abgeschlossen werden wird. Quasi als Preview gibt es aber auch im September schon zwei Konzerte, die zum Thema passen, jeweils mit austriakischer Beteiligung. Am 26. tritt die Sängerin Lili Araujo u.a. mit dem Pianisten Martin Reiter auf und heute der eine zeitlang in Wien lebende brasilianische Pianist Marcelo Amazonas (was für ein Name!), der mir vor ein paar Jahren von Alegre Corrêa vorgestellt wurde. Amazonas ist klassisch ausgebildet, verehrt aber auch die Säulenheiligen Tom Jobim, João Gilberto. Nach längeren Aufenthalten in Japan, Paris und eben Wien und diverse Arbeiten im Musical- und Ballett-Bereich lebt und arbeitet er wieder in der Nähe von Sao Paulo, u.a. im Duo mit seiner Frau Debora Marcussi. Marcelo Amazonas is Brazilian and was born in Santos – Seaside of São Paulo. He got interested in the piano when he was 15 years old and started classical music trainning. After his graduation he also developed a taste for Brazilian music (bossa-nova, more precisely), studying and composing in-between different styles, always in high respect for great masters like Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, as well as great masters of classical music.
After coming back from Japan in the year 2000 where he lived and played for a year, he moves to São Paulo to study arrangement and orchestration with great Brazilian masters. At the same time he has worked on music for theater and musicals like „Les Misérables“, „Grease” and „Mother Courage and Her Sons“ (by Bertold Brecht).
When living in Brazil he worked and recorded alongside with great masters such as Edu Lobo, Lula Galvão, Paulo Aragão, while in Europe he worked in respectable places like Porgy and Bess and RoteBar in Vienna and Favela-Chic in Paris with great artists such as Alegre Corrêa, Tomas Gansch, Carmen Monarcha among others.
He has extensive professional experience, composing and directing music for a wide variety of projects, from Ballets to multiple scores in many countries.
Currently working on different projects such as a piano duo with his wife Débora Marcussi Amazonas, he spends most of his time composing, arranging and performing his own compositions. (Pressetext)
