Omit Five is a contemporary jazz quintet, born at the end of 2010, as spontaneous meeting of five musicians of different musical, cultural and geographical backgrounds, since they come from both the north and the south of Italy. The band, soon recognized as one of the most interesting young bands in the italian jazz scene, played in festivals like Umbria Jazz 2012 or JAM fest 2013 and clubs as Torrione Jazz Club (Ferrara), Milestone – Piacenza Jazz Club, Bergamo Jazz Club, Le Scimmie (Milan), and many others. Their first album entitled “Omit Five” was released in October 2012 on Caligola Records. Omit Five’s repertoire is almost entirely based on wide-ranging original tunes, compositions where the group tries to combine composition and improvisation, using unconventional timbres and non-jazz languages and linking the post-bop tradition with a contemporary sound that tries to serve as a mirror of our age.
