I have been playing with musicians from several countries, but to play with Turkish musicians and in Turkey was something new for me. I realized that Brazilian and Turkish music are cousins. We have the same grandmother; the rhytm. Africa brought us the rhytm. The moslem slaves came from Africa to Brazil and brought with them typical melodies and rhytms which influenced our music.Because of their common origin, Turkish music and Brazilian music have so many same elements. It's impossible for a Brazilian not to feel at home when playing with Turkish musicians. This evening, I have the honor to play with such great singers as Sertab Erener and Güvench Dagüstün. Sertab is a wonderful singer, being able to sing everything from opera to jazz. This sympathic Turkish woman also the much famous female star in her country, takes the audience with her perfect presence and breaks hearts when she sings. She’s been singing duets with world famous singers and groups such as José Carreras, Ricky Martin, Mondo, Voice Male, etc. She’ll be flying in a few days to Riga to present her country in the Eurovision Song Contest. And Güvench! A powerful Turkish bariton with an incredible voice, enthusiastic and emotional; filling the room with his voice. If Güvench is on stage, you are a lucky person and in the right place! In the band there is Tulug from Istanbul. You have to check Tulug. He is a killer! Technique, taste, energy; no words!. Gerri plays the keybords: a chamaleon, he can play like a mad-man. Ronaldo is on the bass, actually "Dancing Bass".He is brazilian, you know? To get the groove, check Ronaldo We just played a concert in Istanbul with this project. A concert that turned out really great. I am sure we will give the same kick to Vienna !Thanks Cristoph Huber for opening the doors of the P&B for us and giving a beautiful frame for the evening.
