Yamandu Costa should be familiar to attentive moviegoers at least since the documentary Brasileirinho by Finnish director Mika Kaurismäki. He is considered a grand master on the seven-string guitar, with conductor Kurt Masur even calling him the "Paganini of the guitar". Yamandu has recorded 28 albums and four DVDs to date, most of which contain his own compositions. In his concerts as a soloist and with renowned orchestras around the world, the virtuoso from Passo Fundo in southern Brazil delights audiences with his breathtaking technique and fiery interpretations of samba, milonga, chôro and tango.
