Austria has a very lively jazz and world music scene. In order to draw more public attention to these creative musicians, the Austrian Music Council (ÖMR), together with mica-music austria, the Ö1 Jazzredaktion, IG World Music and Porgy & Bess, has managed to secure funding for a new Austrian Jazz Award from the BMKÖS, the City of Vienna, JAM MUSIC LAB Private University and Romedius GmbH. The award ceremony in the three categories "Live Act", "Album" and "Newcomer" will take place on 5 December 2024 in Vienna at "Porgy & Bess".

All musicians are invited to upload their current projects to https://www.jazzpreis.at/. At the same time, all people working professionally in this scene in any form are invited to register for the "Academy" - the nomination process. Bettina Loibl has been recruited as jazz prize manager.
