Trio Terrea 'Råz'
Amir Ahmadi: claviton (31-tone keyboard)
Sarvin Hazin: violin
Anna Maria Niemiec: cello
The project offers a new perspective on the music of the Middle East, particularly Iran, by taking a fresh look at its rich musical tradition. By using the clavitone, a microtonal keyboard with 31 keys per octave, composer Amir Ahmadi enables a completely new interpretation of Iranian and Arabic Dastgah and Maqam music, especially in terms of microtonality and tonal systems.
The trio benefits on the one hand from the expertise of violinist Sarvin Hazin, who is well versed in both European classical and Iranian traditional music, and the complex techniques and emotional nuances of cellist Anna Maria Niemiec, which gives the trio the ability to navigate between the fields of jazz, fusion, traditional and contemporary music. On the other hand, the trio pursues the clear goal of molding this diversity into a cohesive unity that transcends conventional boundaries.
