"GLAS" is the word for "voice" in most Slavic languages.

Vokalensemble GLAS is a colorful Viennese candy whose songs originate from Southeast Europe, but at the same time it represents the cultural diversity of the city of Vienna. Although the singers are all based here, they have roots in various countries: Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Iran, united with Austria in the vocal ensemble GLAS.

Both melodically and rhythmically, the polyphonic songs of the Balkan regions represent one of the most complex forms of musical expression within the vocal repertoire of European folklore. The vocal ensemble GLAS invites you on a journey into this magical world: from tender harmonies of longing songs from the Dalmatian coast to passionate Bosnian songs, oriental Ilahias and lively "Gassenhauern" from Macedonia in 7/8 time.
