KRISE is based on microtonal studies and blends elements from folk music, rock, contemporary music, and club. Inspired by theories from Eivind Groven, Ben Johnston, and Harry Partch, KRISE raises awareness of experimental tonality by exploring sounds that lie outside the traditional equal-tempered system. The ensemble's musical exploration focuses on uncovering the essence of each instrument's sound and how they intertwine in a dynamic and improvised interplay.
