20 years of Jazzorchester Vorarlberg!

In 2006, artistic director and trumpeter Martin Eberle, who had recently moved to Vienna, met American trombonist and composer Philip Yaeger, who had himself only been living in Austria for a short time. It was the beginning of a long-standing friendship and an extremely fruitful artistic collaboration—not least within the framework of Jazzorchester Vorarlberg (JOV).

About a year later, Eberle asked Yaeger if he would like to write a concert program for the then still young ensemble. This became Yaeger's first work for a larger ensemble and, two years later, the JOV's debut album: Introducing the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg.

Since then, Yaeger's compositions and arrangements have shaped the orchestra's unmistakable sound – music that, even 15 years later, has lost none of its freshness and relevance. And so now it's time for (Re)Introducing the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg.

After many years, the JOV is delighted to perform the music with which it once began its journey into the world – this time with the voice of Veronika Morscher, who also contributes two of her own compositions to the program.
The liner notes to the album conclude with the words: “Are you listening?” Today, after 20 years of the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg, we say: Thank you for still listening! (JOV)
