Helmut Sprenger 'Auffi'

Helmut Sprenger: reeds, loop, synthesizer, voice, bird whistles

For my milestone birthday in 2024, I gave myself my solo program “auffi” as a recording. The CD was recorded like a live concert, using the reverb from my loop to really achieve the familiar concert sound. All the pieces were recorded in one go. The recording therefore has its own charm and is a snapshot in time. Original compositions, improvisations and pieces from partitas and sonatas for violin by J.S. Bach (arranged for clarinet) can be heard. The idea of combining “loop pieces” with improvisations and works by J.S. Bach leads to a sequence rich in contrast. My aim is to enchant the audience into an exciting “heard” clarinet world. Short narratives about the pieces round off the whole experience. The use of loops creates minimalist soundscapes that run like a common thread through the entire performance. Additional sound changes are achieved through electronic support. Imagine sitting in the middle of my clarinets that evening - every nuance, no matter how subtle, will be perceived and experienced. An exciting sound experience will unfold for you.
