We have nothing, and we have everything. There is no one Brazilian folk and there is no one Brazilian music. But together, what a wonderful, what an incredible mix. We are so different from each other. I don’t know how we survive, but we do. We are so poor, yet we are so rich I don’t know how we manage to sing, to dance, to laugh, to hope, but we do. And we do it like almost no other people in this earth. There is so much power in Brazilian folk and in Brazilian music. This evening and CD is dedicated to all the Brazilian people and their great musicians and composers.
The musicians of this project come from different countries and cultures, all so different from one another. Tulu from Turkey, Geri from Austria, Ivan, a Cuban and I with my Brazilian roots. Though we speak different languages, there was a synergy between us right from the beginning. Maybe the repertoire, maybe our long years on the road playing in different bands and projects, we admire each other’s ideas and, simply, each other. In the beginning I asked these musicians to play with us because of their enormous talent. But after a while, I realized that the real reason we work together is friendship, as much or more than music. Playing with your friends brings a very special quality to the music. From our different countries, we find a world full of colors and possibilities. As well as our music.A truly world jazz band. This evening and CD is dedicated to all the Brazilian people and their great musicians and composers. Our homeland saints. (Fernando Paiva)
