Joander Cruz Trio – Contemporary jazz that bridges post-bop and Brazilian influences*
The Joander Cruz Trio performs in a stripped-down sax-bass-drums lineup to highlight melodic storytelling and rhythmic flexibility. The internationally diverse ensemble brings together three outstanding voices from the current scene: Brazilian saxophonist Joander Cruz, Austrian bassist Jojo Lackner, and Brazilian drummer Matheus Jardim.
Together, they combine the harmonic density and linear drive of this approach with the polyrhythmic and melodic idioms of Brazilian music. Their interplay creates a chamber-music-like yet energetic soundscape in which composition and spontaneous improvisation coexist on equal footing.
The trio offers a live experience based on *direct musical dialogue*, dynamic control, and open form.
