Two extraordinary musical storytellers come together on stage at Porgy & Bess.

Aboriginal singer-songwriter Nancy Bates is one of Australia’s most compelling voices. In her songs, she weaves personal stories with the history of her people, telling tales of identity, resilience, and hope. Her music is deeply rooted in her culture and moves listeners with its emotional directness.

Joining her on stage: Otto Lechner, one of the defining figures of the Austrian music scene. With his unmistakable accordion playing, he has been moving for decades between jazz, folk music, improvisation, and contemporary music, continually creating new sonic spaces.

What happens when these two extraordinary artists come together? A musical dialogue spanning continents, full of stories, spontaneous encounters, and surprising soundscapes.

A matinee that shows that music begins where words reach their limits. (Airan Berg)
