Viewing society through a kaleidoscope allows us to rearrange and reshape things. Only when different perspectives are taken into account, respected, and valued can we form a comprehensive picture of the world and the people with whom we live. The octet is as flexible and agile as a chamber music ensemble, yet it possesses many of the characteristics of a big band. The music moves between improvisation and composed material, between jazz and contemporary classical music.
