CD release concert for “Vienna Live / The Porgy Concerts - Volume One” (on the col legno label) containing music recorded live September 2025 -- “Music for Strings, Piano & Bass Clarinet” and “One Chamber Symphony and more” from October 2026 (https://porgy.at/events/13152/)
This concert continues Mantler’s series of “reissues” (in fact, a planned trilogy of concerts and CD releases – yes, more to come ...) of existing compositions from some of his most iconic recordings. Originally designed on a large-scale, these new versions are now limited to a smaller “core” chamber ensemble (trumpet, bass clarinet, string quartet, guitar, vibraphone/marimba) — a group composed of (open-minded) Austrian musicians from both the classical and jazz worlds, led by Christoph Cech, as well as a few additional soloists and voices.
The program will included re-worked versions of Cerco un Paese Innocente (words by Giuseppe Ungaretti) and Hide and Seek (words by Paul Auster), both of which have never been performed live in their entirety.
