When Bob Brookmeyer was asked to write a large scale work for the „Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival“ in 1994, he asked his longtime friend and musical partner Gerry Mulligan to perform the solo part of his four part suite „Celebration“. We are very proud to present the Austrian premiere of this extraordinary work for jazz orchestra and solo baritone saxophone with one of the brightest lights in European jazz, Herwig Gradischnig.
The rest of the program will consist of compositions and arrangements for Hank and the band from yours truly, and since I used to study with Bob Brookmeyer, the „Kreis schliesst sich“ quite nicely (don’t you think?). (Ed Partyka)
