Amina Figarova wurde in Baku, Aserbaidschan, geboren. Mit zwei begann sie Klavier zu spielen, mit drei zu komponieren, im Alter von sechs wurde sie in eine Schule für hochbegabte Kinder aufgenommen. Sie trat dem „State Conservatory of Baku“ bei, wo sie 1987 nach ihrem Abschluß eine Professur für klassisches Klavier übernahm. Danach studierte sie am Berklee College of Music in Boston.
