With these recordings the Slovak „Young Lion“ Radovan Tariska rises to a new level of European jazz. Instead of being a „who is who“ list of the international jazz scene, it is an excellent line-up of top young jazzmen coming mostly from Slovakia, who, I think, will open new directions in jazz. I observed Rado's artistic progress, on our concerts and beyond, and it is amazing. He has achieved flexible sound and dynamic phrasing. As the leader he joined the best part of the new East-European generation with the American trumpet player Ryan Carniaux. Listening to this CD one senses the tension, and the musician feels like joining in the music making. This CD comprises original compositions with mainstream features, which at the same time fit into the concept of virtuoso contemporary music. The Radovan Tariska Sextet leaves you curious to hear more and it captivates you with the true sound of genuine first-class jazz improvisers. Congratulations, Rado! (Harry Sokal)
