During the 2nd half of September there is a big international congress in ophthalmology taking place in Vienna. Considering that we are mainly dealing with acoustics this would not really affect us except that there is probably a colleague out there trying to book hotel rooms in hotels that are now fully occupied with ophthalmologists! However, there is this one outstanding eye doctor who happened to study at the prestigious Berklee University for Music in Boston during his medical studies. He turned out to be just as outstanding playing the saxophone. Dan Reinstein is the name of this multi-talented doctor who will give talks in front of thousands of colleagues during the day before he will come to our jazz club to perform in front of hundreds of jazz fans in the night. Amongst others the band will be accompanied by the ophthalmologist Thomas Pfleger, a luminary guitarist, and Vana Gierig who also studied at Berklee University together with Reinstein in the ‘80ies. Back then both together had started the musical project ‘ Private Charter’. Today, we will hear a concert that will bring light into the darkness ‘with eye and ear control’!
