Open Conduction/Jam with the CIA

I – The CIA Trio. Every week Peter teaches a CIA sponsored free workshop open to anyone in the Vorarlberg community. Using films and thoughtful personal discussions they study various musicians, concepts, history, and compositions of great improvisers from around the world. Two of the most recent workshops have focused on Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. The CIA trio will play music of Mingus, Monk and Madsen.

II - The CIA Large Ensemble will be performing part of the Sun Ra Suite of Philosophical Sounds. The great composer and iconoclastic personality Sun Ra brought theater, poetry and wild happenings to the jazz world. He never performed this great Suite of music himself. Peter was given Sun Ra's score of the piece and he arranged the Suite for the CIA's unsual instrumentation. There is a CIA DVD of the Sun Ra Suite as well as a CIA CD of improvised world music.

III – Open Conduction/Jam with the CIA: Peter will make a conduction jam session which will introduce the invading CIA to all like-minded Viennese musicians.
