I feel this title tells a lot about this music. Anyway, it gives me associations towards cinematic, meditative music, dark moods and electronic sounds. All this is terms that tell you something about the vibe on the album. (Eivind Aarset)
Der Name des norwegischen Labels (Jazzland Records) mag irreführen: Nicht das Bewahren von Traditionen ist die Intention des künstlerischen “mastermind” Bugge Wesseltoft, sondern vielmehr der Bruch mit jazzimanenten Konventionen. An zwei Abenden sei dieses Label, das u.a. auf Veröffentlichungen von Nils Petter Molvaer, Sidsel Endresen oder Mari Boine verweisen kann, exemplarisch vorgestellt. Norwegen ist nicht nur die Heimat von Jan Garbarek! CH
