Peter Evans, klassisch ausgebildetes "Trompetenwunder" aus New York hat sich binnen kürzester Zeit nicht nur als bravouröser Trompeter und frappierender Techniker, sondern gleichsam als umfassend reflektierender und höchst eloquenter Musiker seinen Platz an vorderster Front der aktuellen Kreativszene erspielen können. Seit seiner Solo-CD "More is More" (2005) gilt er als "center of the next generation of players".

The Peter Evans Quintet has been performing in the USA and internationally since 2009. They have been commissioned by the Donaueschingen Musiktage Festival, toured Jazz clubs, and are a central focus of Evans' 2014 residency at the prestigious Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, NYC. The band is a unique and forward thinking unit that cuts across many styles and musical disciplines. The ensemble fluidly combines languages from Jazz and experimental music with tightly woven composed structures and the highly developed voice of Sam Pluta on live electronics. The band has performed a wide range of music, from the Jazz-influenced material on their highly acclaimed "Ghosts" album from 2011 to the cinematic, monumental compositions on their upcoming "DESTINATION: VOID" (summer 2014). 2014/15 will see the quintet develop yet another program of music, combining highly rhythmic compositions, drones, and a tribute to Alice Coltrane.

The bands' lineup further exemplifies the broad range of exploration- Evans (who works in Jazz, contemporary music, solo performance), Ron Stabinsky (classical pianist who has studied with Bill Dixon, and is replacing Evans in Mostly Other People do the Killing), Tom Blancarte (bassist in powerful avant bands such as Brandon Seabrook's trio, The Gate), Jim Black (veteran powerhouse drummer who has played with everyone from Lee Konitz to Nels Cline) and Sam Pluta (a doctorate in composition from Columbia University as well as revolutionary voice in the field of live electronics)...
