“Jon's new solo program SOULUBA is a musical journey rooted into the black experience with a mix of music in a contemporary setting inspired from Jon's roots both from Virginia to Harlem in New York City and the African Diaspora. Harlem is famous for being a profound hub of black culture such as the Harlem Renaissance to being a home of the spoken word aka Rap. His playing will be accompanied by his genial partner, singer, and composer Jonny Sass. Jonny wrote and performed songs on the latest album of Austrian electronic/rock band sofa surfers, entitled superluminal, which also won the Austrian Amadeus award for best alternative record in 2013. Always looking to take music a step further he is blending numerous genres to create his own unique sound. The program includes a mix of solo pieces from black composers as well as the music of Jon and Jonny Sass.
