“Riepler stylishly combines the immediacy of New York’s propulsive Downtown style with classical and folk textures.” (London Jazz Festival)
Much has been written about London’s hot bed of young, fresh exciting talent, but when one musician becomes the go-to guy by those at the top of their game, one has to take notice. Since moving to London from Austria via studies in Amsterdam in 2006, guitarist Hannes Riepler has made his mark on the city’s vibrant jazz scene, not only for his outstanding, inventive guitar skill and freewheeling energy, but as an extraordinarily talented composer. The Brave (Jellymould) is the stunning debut album from guitarist Hannes Riepler featuring some of the finest players on the London jazz scene. Riepler stylishly combines the immediacy of New York’s propulsive Downtown style with classical and folk textures. He can also be heard on two Andre Canniere Group albums (Whirlwind), Esben Tjalve’s Red Kite (F-ire) and Ryan Trebilcock’s Holler. Riepler also runs the highly acclaimed LONDON JAZZ JAM at the Vortex Jazz Club every Sunday. Since November 2012 the guitarist is collaborating and can be heard with french saxophonist Julien Lourau’s London Quintet and the new improvisers ensemble ELECTRIC BIDDLE.
Hannes is also playing with upcoming singer/songwriter JACK CHESHIRE.
