Swing Original Monks was born in Ecuador in 2010, with members from Latin America, Europe and the United States. As a result of experimenting with electronic beats, samples, synths, and folk and urban rhythmic motifs, the band has embraced a wide range of genres, and in their music you will find an unusual concoction, in which merengue meets country-western, klezmer meets Peruvian chicha, a gipsy fanfare marries cumbia, and Caribbean flare mixes with hard-hitting hip-hop and dubstep… in a few words: a sensual kaleidoscope of sounds, a multicultural feast for the ears and the soul.
In 2012, with only two years of artistic activity, Swing Original Monks made their first international appearances in Chile and Colombia, and in the summer of 2013, the band embarked on its first international tour, performing at numerous festivals in Europe and the USA (15 shows in 6 countries).
The band is currently working on its new material, which is set to tour the world in 2015, a program that includes projections and other theatrical elements, creating an eclectic set piece of color and vim. (Pressetext)
