To open this year’s festival, the American bassist Reggie Washington will play his new album, an homage to Jef Lee Johnson who passed away in 2013. Washington, an unsung genius, has worked closely with the likes of George Duke, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott. „Rainbow Shadow“ pays tribute to a discreet yet flamboyant sideman who gave himself the nickname of „Rainbow Crow“, taken from an American Indian legend.
Reggie Washington was a key player in the Modern Jazz revolution in the 1980s and 90s and plays jazz, funk, R’n’B, blues, world and experimental music with natural and communicative energy. Deeply passionate about his music, he takes pleasure in bringing together musicians with differing outlooks to stimulate learning and the exchange of ideas. He is joined by Marvin Sewell on guitar, the groove of Patrick Dorcean on percussion, and the instinctive DJ Grazzhoppa on the decks. (Pressetext)
Live ends when the spirit is gone – The Shadow of the Rainbow Crow will be recognized for a long time... CH
