Ramona Horvath Trio feat. Elly Wright (F/ROM/A)

Ramona Horvath: piano
Nicolas Rageau: bass
Frederic Sicart: drums
special guest: Elly Wright: vocals

Ramona Horvath is a pianist born in Romania, in a family of musicians. She graduated from the National Conservatory of Bucharest as concert soloist in classical music while feeding a constant passion for the American standards since childhood.

The year 2003 marks a switching point in Ramona's career. Her encounter with Jancy Korossy, American pianist of Hungarian origin, icon of international jazz, completely turns her to the universe of jazz. From that moment on, the two pianists will perform lots of concerts together on main European scenes (Hungary, Austria, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy...). They will also record an album "Missing Home", awarded "Best jazz album of the year" (2009, Romania).

In 2009, Ramona moves to Paris and puts together a trio with Nicolas Rageau on double-bass and Frederic Sicart on drums. The band performs now on various scenes of festivals and clubs in Europe. Recently they have been heard in France, Spain, and also in Romania at the
Hungarian State Opera in Cluj and at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.

In 2015, the trio recorded their first album, "XS Bird" (Black & Blue), dedicated to the memory of Jancy Korossy, who died in 2013. This album was very recently awarded "Best jazz album of the year" (2016, Romania). The music of this trio is based on American mainstream jazz, also filled with other influences like Romanian traditional music and Latin elements. The virtuosity in improvisation and the symbiotic communication between the three of them constitute the center of their music. (Pressetext)
